Every system is designed in order to accomplish a mission with maximum efficiency and availability performed at the lower cost.
Logistic support is a service provided to system operators to guarantee this objective obtention all along the system life cycle (from setting in service to discharge). When logistic support is studied  as soon as design phase, it is called Integrated Logistic Support (ILS).
Logistic Support is a remarkable tool for trade-off between cost and quality for every company who wishes to stay competitive.

A previous group of Institut de Sûreté de Fonctionnement (ISDF) had displaid the basis of such a service ; nowadays important developments have raised.
Consequently IMdR proposes to reundertake this work by creating a new working group : LOGISTIC SUPPORT _ MAINTAINABILITY_MAINTENANCE with a working program as follows :

Objectives

Through the various disciplines of Logistic Support, maintenance optimization and Contract Management Support (CMS), the WG aims at exploring the progress ways and challenges to face in the race toward operational effficiency, safety and cost control.

Ambition

The WG ambitions to :

-recreate an exchange place around Logistic Support,
-propose and follow projects and research subject,
-favour relationship between schools and companies around Logistic Support and Contract Management Support trades
.

Working tracks

-State of the Art in CMS practice,

-Prove technical and economic interest of setting in place Logistic Support, activity, namely for small and medium companies,
-computerized support data exchange,
-survey of International Working Groups( US DOD,ASD STAN, PLCS, …)
-Further studies could be undertaken following WG members interests.

Expected products

The following are expected :

-          -synthesis documents on industrial practice,
- guide for setting in place a logistic support activity,
- synthesis of reseach topics evaluation ,
-
proposal of a IMdR project.
