Philippe LE POAC was born in 1952 ; he graduated of Ecole Centrale de Paris.
He worked in CEA (Atomic Energy Commission) all along his career from 1975 till 2015.
Employed as Research and Development engineer on materials mechanical behavior, his concerns were links between material mechanical properties and their microstructure on one hand, and on other hand the structures mechanical strength.
He was then a project and operational manager at several levels in the Military Applications Division in units settling various types of materials such as metals, ceramics, compounds, explosives, nuclear materials.
In 2003, he joined the Nuclear Energy Division in Saclay and took in charge the Nuclear Materials Department ; he then became Manager of Safety, Quality and Nuclear Safety and finally Quality and Environment Manager. In that position he represented CEA (which is a founding member of IMdR) at the IMdR Board. He was greatly involved in Avignon lambda mu 16 Symposium organization..
As of March 2010, he was appointed Deputy Manager of an establishment of the Military Applications Division, devoted to research, development and manufacturing of non metallic materials, among which explosives.
In July 2016, he was elected Chairman of the Risks Management Institute (IMdR).
He is Knight of the Order of Academic Palms.
